Inspiration is actually the fuel that Bollywood runs on. There are so many things that inspire Bollywood movies. Sometimes, they inspired by the Tollywod movies, and sometimes by the novels, and sometimes by the real life stories of our leaders, common man, sportsmen and so on. In other words, inspiration, just like creativity, has no boundaries.

Today, we want to look at those Bollywood movies which were inspired by novels. Readers, movie directors, script writers and movie audience will agree that novels are endlessly inspiring the filmmakers in Bollywood. In fact, most of these movies are inspired by the novelty in literary masterpieces. Some of these movies include the following”

1. 3 Idiots

3 Idiots is a Bollywood comedy movie which was inspired by a novel – Five Point Someone. Written by Chetan Bhagat, Five Point Someone is a story three good friends, and it is narrated by Ravi. In the movie, R Madhavan, whose character name is Farhan Quereshi, is the one who played the character of Ravi.

Sharman Joshi, named Raju Rostaji in the film, played the character of Alok, while Aamir Khan played the character of Ryan. In the beginning of the story, there are three friends who are literally stuck in an IIT engineering college. The story mostly revolves around college life where the author proves that the current Indian education is only producing graduates who are like robots, but is really stifling creativity.

2. Kai Po Che (2013)
This Bollywood movie was inspired by a novel titled 3 Mistakes of My Life, which was a third novel of a renowned writer – Chetan Bhagat. Based on Gujarat, the city of Ahmedabad, the story is largely
about three friends.

The movie, Kai Po Che, which is a Gujarati phrase meaning “I Have Cut”, also revolves around three friends, Govind (Rajkummar Rao), Omi (Amit Sadh) andIshaan (Sushant Singh), who want to open up their own sports academy and sports shop. The movie traces their innocence and deep friendship tarnished by communal and religious politics
hatred.

3. Devdas (2002)

Devdas, released in 2002, is one of the most highly rated Bengali romances. The film is based on the novel, Devdas, which was written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. It is a love story that brings to light the chaotic relationships between its three protagonists: Pavati (or Paro), Chandramukhi and Devdas.

Dev (SRK) goes to study in London and upon his return; he falls in love with Parvati played in the movie by Aishwarya Rai. Thed two are in love, and have been in love since they were kids.

However, Dev’s parents are opposed to them marrying each other. This sorry situation makes Dev goes into drugs to help him cope with his pain of losing Parvati.

4. Aisha(2010)

This is a Bollywood film inspired by Emma, a novel written by Jane Austen. The story is set in a small fictional village of Highbury and the estates around it, which include Donwell Abbey, Randalls and Hartfield. Emma is a story about how the people in these areas related with eachother. Aisha, released in 2010, is an adaptation of this great novel.
